abbaye 14th anniversary party 2/11/17

for the 11th year we performed live band karaoke for our friends at the abbaye to celebrate their anniversary. the enthusiastic party goers chose from our list of 235 songs to come up and sing with us as their backing band. each year everyone seems to get better and better and this year we probably had the most people come up and sing without looking at lyric sheets. every year abbaye co-owner meghan chooses a secret song ahead of time which we learn and kept off the list just for her to perform. her song this year was “where you get love” by mattew sweet which started off the second set. she also closed the night with her song from last year “don’t change” by inxs. the other owner marc played drums on “just what i needed” by the cars which gave ward an opportunity to come up front and sing lead. we also had other abbaye employees who played drums on “she don’t use jelly” and sang “fight for your right”. as usual we started the night off with two of our original songs and then the crowd took over. here is everything that was performed in both sets:

our third year performing outside in penn treaty park before the city fireworks and this year we had special guests with us. halfway through the set we turned our instruments over to riot, featuring pete’s sons calvin and myles, who performed a green day song as their first public performance. our set was a big mix of originals and covers.
